CBD Shows Promise for Parkinson’s Disease Sufferers
CBD research is still in its infancy but there are promising signs for CBD as a non-invasive component of a treatment programme for those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Early research in animals even suggests that CBD may have a hand in the prevention of Parkinson’s. Unfortunately it does not appear that CBD (or any other medicine) is able to reverse Parkinsons. Up to 60% of the brain cells could be destroyed by the time the disease is diagnosed.
The medicine that is most prescribed in the treatment of Parkinson’s is levodopa but it doesn’t treat the non-motor conditions and often leads to anxiety and tremors in the patient. It is these secondary and non-motor effects that CBD is proving highly successful in treating. More research is definitely needed but for now CBD is certainly worth a try for those who are enduring this taxing disease.
