CBD Research Grows in Record Amounts in 2020

As global interest in CBD and it’s natural benefits grows, the demand for more evidence of its efficacy and interest in its potential is driving a wave of research into this exciting new field of medicine. According to Norml, a record 3,500+ scientific papers on the subject of cannabis were published in 2020 according to the National Library of Medicine and PubMed.gov.

This marks a new record for the most numbers of papers published in a single year and brings to 35 000 the total number of cannabis-related articles on PubMed. The need for ongoing research is still evident as activists strive to show the efficacy of CBD.

With much of the current evidence based on pilot studies and a lot more on anecdotal evidence work still has to be done to create conclusive studies. A key indicator of interest is the entry by some of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies into the CBD space. As the pandemic continues to impact the planet the focus on health is rising and we hope that 2021 bring further breakthroughs for CBD.
