Drones to Assist Hemp Farmers

An Irish start-up company has raised $5.3 million to develop their CBD farming by using drone farming technology. Drones are increasingly being used in smart farming; assisting with the planning and monitoring phases of cultivation. Greenheart CBD founder Paul Walsh believes that drones are a game-changer for farming hemp, and would be an excellent way for South African farms to enter the market.

Greenheart CBD has big plans, they are also creating their own currency which they intend to establish for hemp cultivation and trade. US drone farming company Precision Hawk says that drones can cut down time and costs around plant counting and canopy sizing as well as for monitoring for stress and disease. Drones are also agile enough to assist with precision treatments from nutrient dosing to disease control and individual plant monitoring.
