The New NORMAL Making Good Advice a Good Habit

January 14, 20213 min read

The throwaway phrase ‘new normal’ may go down as the most meaningless term of 2020. Not only was there nothing normal about trying to navigate a pandemic and the high-level uncertainty it has brought, but there has never been a normal that is one-size-fits-all. In fact, if the challenges of 2020 had anything to teach us, it’s that we all have individual dreams, ideas and ways to feel well. For some of us, the excitement of adventures in the outdoors is an inspiration, for others it’s creating or listening to music. For some it may be the sanctuary of their home and family and others may find their zen in solitude.

It looks like 2021 will be as complex as 2020 in terms of managing the pandemic, public health and economic security but we’ve been getting the hang of this and hopefully we’ll be better prepared for the shocks and shudders of the year to come. Key to making it through the unknown, and defending ourselves from the Covid-19 virus, is cultivating optimal health. In reality there are no quick fixes, good health advice remains simple, but you make the difference by committing to follow it, so make some new habits to see you through 2021:

Rest and Repeat

A recent article in The Atlantic reports that researchers have found there is a strong link between sufficient sleep and immunity to, as well as recovery from, Covid-19. We all know that a good night’s sleep is important but it may be even more important than we thought. CBD is well-known to assist in peaceful, sustained sleep and is a good solution for those who are battling with nights of staring at the ceiling.

Eat Clean

Most infections and illnesses are more likely to thrive when the body is inflammatory and Covid-19 is not exception. The New York Times looked at the profile at those more at risk of developing severe symptoms of Covid-19 and pointed out that inflammation increased in both older and overweight people. Many dieticians have been pointing to wholefood (as opposed to processed foods) as an excellent medicine for preventing and even decreasing inflammation in the body but CBD is also an excellent plant medicine for regulating the bodies inflammation levels so there is no harm in taking a daily preventative dose.

Exercise Often

Exercise is credited with lowering blood pressure, reducing body weight and keeping our hearts healthy. By promoting better circulation, exercise is also thought to allow for a better flow of immune cells. Stress creates inflammation in the body and impacts the immune system so stress-reducing exercise can create a healthier body but also a clearer, more balanced mind. Many athletes have turned to CBD to help them heal from injuries or to combine the endorphin boosting positive effects of exercise with the relaxation and sense of wellbeing brought on by CBD, as experienced by fans of the latest CBD Yoga craze.

If ever there was a year to stick to your New Year’s resolutions, this is it. Self-care is sometimes about getting up earlier to cut fruit for a smoothie or go out for a run. Make small adjustments and stick with them for incremental success; encouraging you to introduce more positive new habits. Because CBD creates a sense of wellbeing, it can be a good baseline for nurturing positive health that will help and heal you through 2021. Here’s to a great year!
