A randomised crossover trial of CBD on high blood pressure patients found that even a single dose of CBD lowered blood pressure significantly. The study advised that further research should be done to explore the long term use of CBD in cardio-vascular disease treatment, but with CBD’s minimal side-effects it is already being used by some as a more natural alternative to managing blood pressure problems.
It is essential that anyone with blood pressure abnormalities should consult their doctor before using CBD as some of the medications used to lower blood pressure may be significantly amplified when using CBD. This could lead to an equally dangerous low blood pressure situation resulting in lethargy and dizziness. Caution is advised in particular when taking metoprolol and other beta blockers.
