A US study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society in October 2020, revealed that older people were regularly using cannabis products to manage a variety of medical ailments. The most common issues for which cannabis was being used were pain, insomnia and anxiety. The study surveyed 568 patients and found that 15% had used cannabis in the past three years, with half of them saying they used it often. The study also found that 61% of those surveyed only started using cannabis after they were 60.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that the baby boomer generation has embraced the powerful benefits of plant medicine; the original hippie generation, they were the first generation to reopen thinking about the possibilities of the plant.
